Overview

Canada offers dedicated resettlement and protection programs for individuals fleeing the Afghanistan crisis and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. These fast-tracked pathways provide temporary and permanent immigration options for those affected by war, persecution, and displacement.

We provide full legal and application support to help vulnerable families find safety and stability in Canada.

Afghan Resettlement Pathways

Canada has committed to resettling over 40,000 Afghan nationals through several specialized immigration streams:

Programs Include:

  • Special Immigration Measures (SIM) Program for former interpreters, contractors, and their families who worked with the Canadian government or military

  • Humanitarian Program for vulnerable Afghans (e.g., women leaders, human rights defenders, persecuted minorities)

  • Extended Family Sponsorship for Afghans living in Canada to sponsor eligible relatives

  • Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program through community groups

Required Documents:

  • Proof of connection to Canada (if applicable)

  • Identity and travel documents (or explanation if unavailable)

  • Referral through UNHCR, an approved NGO, or Canadian military contact (for SIM)

Applicants may be processed from within Canada or abroad (e.g., third countries such as Pakistan, UAE, or Qatar).

Ukrainian Resettlement Pathways

In response to the war in Ukraine, Canada introduced temporary and permanent options:

Programs Include:

  • CUAET: The Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel, offering:

    • Free visitor visas

    • Open work permits

    • Study permits for children and students

    • Valid for up to 3 years

  • Permanent Residency Pathways for extended family members of Canadians or protected persons

  • Resettlement through refugee sponsorship, in special cases

Required Documents:

  • Ukrainian passport or ID

  • Application for CUAET via IRCC portal

  • Biometrics and medical exams (if required)

CUAET is free of charge and prioritizes fast processing and support services, including free settlement assistance in Canada.
